I will cover some nuances of the chess game with a double attack.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Many Possibilities<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287509\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287509\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>The queen can give check safely and attack the rook from various squares.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Faulty Double Attack<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287511\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287511\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>After a check on d5, the rook is saved by interposing.<\/p>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287513\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287513\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>After a check on f3, the rook is saved by interposing.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">The Correct Attack<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287515\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287515\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>Now the rook cannot be saved by interposing.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Which Double Attacks Win the Knight?<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287549\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287549\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>Imagine the white queen in your head and where to put it on the board in such a way that Black loses his knight to a double attack. Work out how many squares that is possible?<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">The Target: Material<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287547\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287547\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>For a double attack with the queen, the target must be unprotected. The queen is so valuable that the attack on a protected piece does not make sense (unless another piece is helping).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In this position, there is an easy double attack. The knights cannot protect one another, so White has a wide choice. How many possible attacks are there?<\/p>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287545\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287545\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">A Winning Double Attack<\/h4>\n\n\n<iframe allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" id=\"8287555\" src=\"\/\/www.chess.com\/emboard?id=8287555\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<p>From a1 and d4, the queen is attacking both unprotected pieces. But it is only from d4 that this will win material. The queen is preventing the black defense Rg7-a7.
